Once the debris, stumps and stones were removed from the first bench – much of it by hand – the process of revitalization began. This is where the true meaning of “Patience is a virtue” comes in. The revitalization took another 5 years and this included a calculated planting regime of grains and flowers to help rejuvenate the soil. This crop rotation replenishes nitrogen into the soil and also mitigates the build up of pathogens and pests that can hamper strong and healthy vineyard development.
This was the start of what would be one of the first biodynamic vineyards from inception in all of North America.
