To find a piece of land worthy of his vision, Jamie used all his free time and any money he had travelling throughout southern BC. He would bike, kayak, borrow friends’ vehicles and hitchhike, cajoling land owners and government representatives to let him take soil samples and erect weather stations to test the suitability of various locations. Then, after 4 years he found the spot! It was a tiny microclimate in an unlikely location. The owner did not initially want to sell and finally with a persistent Jamie visiting him regularly, he sold the land 3 years later.
